Fritsch Milling and Sizing


Rotor and Beater Mills for deagglomerating, pre-crushing, and fine comminution of soft to medium-hard, brittle, fibrous and temperature-sensitive materials in analytic laboratories or industry. The sample is comminuted at high speeds of up to 22,000 rpm by impact and shearing forces. The final fineness of the samples depends on the selected sieve insert. To avoid undesired abrasion, the Variable Speed Rotor Mills can be equipped with rotors made of stainless steel, pure titanium, hard-metal tungsten carbide, or zirconium oxide. The Cross Beater Mill is available with a grinding insert either made of cast iron or stainless steel.

The Variable Speed Rotor Mill PULVERISETTE 14 premium line provides impact, shearing, and cutting forces in a single instrument. Suitable for a wide range of applications including, analytical research, biology, chemistry, agriculture, forestry, food stuffs, plastics, additives, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and more. Its powerful motor, engineered for heat mitigation, is ideal for fast grinding of soft to medium-hard, brittle, as well as fibrous materials, and temperature sensitive samples. Hard and fatty materials such as feed pellets can be easily milled. Samples that are difficult to grind or extremely temperature-sensitive such as plastics can be embrittled with liquid nitrogen prior to milling. A configurable range of processing accessories, including a unique cutting rotor module allow fast, efficient grinding of fibrous materials and plastics. Various sieve rings starting at 0.08mm control final particle size and Cyclone sample collection system provide high-throughput milling, plus dust containment.

Classic Line

The Variable Speed Rotor Mill PULVERISETTE 14 classic Line provides comminution of soft to medium-hard, brittle and fibrous materials as well as temperature-sensitive samples. Proven procedures used worldwide for trace analysis preparation. Hard to mill materials, or temperature-sensitive samples such as styrene, polyester, synthetic resins, films, PVC, PP and PE can be embrittled with the addition of liquid nitrogen and ground. The motor speed can be varied, making it possible to adapt the mill to each specific application. An automatic speed compensation feature ensures an ideal adaptation of the grinding to the specific comminution behavior of the sample. Thermal strain on the sample is reduced significantly while ensuring fast, effective grinding.

The Cross Beater Mill PULVERISETTE 16, performs fast and gentle pre-crushing and fine grinding of medium-hard, brittle materials up to a Mohs hardness of 6 in laboratories, pilot plants and industry.
Comminution can be batchwise or continuous. The maximum feed size for bulk solids is up to 25 mm. For batch feeding operation, a 5-liter collecting vessel and filter hose is supplied. A 30-liter collecting vessel is available for larger volumes. The final fineness depends on the size of the bottom sieve and the physical properties of the sample material. A final fineness of < 100 μm can often be achieved after the first step due to the powerful drive and a rotor speed of up to 4,000 rpm. Grinding inserts in either cast-iron or stainless steel are available.
